I've just ordered my broadband connection through PlusNet. You'll
see them listed as the Featured ADSL Provider on several pages on the
site, with links to comparisons and reviews. I'm a simple man and this is a simple package - £24.99 a month, NO activation fee, FREE ADSL modem and splitters, and great speed, reliability and service. Sounds like a winner to me! If you like the sound of that as well, click on the banner below. |

Wahey! We just got our RFS date and it's earlier than we'd
been told to expect - 17th December 2003! I've ordered some
more posters to let the village know that "Broadband is coming!".
Yes - we could all have broadband for Christmas! (Oh, and if you're wondering where the leaflets from BT I referred to on the 21st August got to - the leaflet company BT were using turned out to be useless and almost no-one in the UK had them delivered successfully...<sigh>...) |

| 4th September 2003 |
Despite our hopes for getting and RFS (Ready For Service) date this week,
we weren't on the list. According to Julie Russill from BT: "More will be announced next week - the delay is due to the fact that many of them are subtending exchanges and take longer to set." So, fingers crossed, we'll get the date next week. |

We've reached the trigger level! As of the time of writing, we
actually have 155 registrations. But don't stop now! We need
to keep the momentum up, and the pressure on to get BT to give us our
'Ready For Service' (RFS) date. We've passed the first milestone but we're still only on the sliproad of the Internet fast lane! |

The mail drop should be starting today so
keep an eye out for the A5 flyer coming through your door. I've also
added some more links to the 'Useful
Links' page - check 'em out. BT have confirmed that the flyers will be delivered to everyone in postcode areas that are connected to the Earls Barton exchange, which includes Mears Ashby. I'm waiting for the complete list of villages and will post it once I receive it. |
|
| 19th August 2003 | BT have just advised us that they are beginning a 2000 maildrop to the Earls Barton area, so watch out for an A5 two-sided flyer coming through your door from 21st August! | |
| 18th August 2003 | You should have
started to see the stickers in windows, and on lamp posts and junction
boxes around Earls Barton, urging people to GET BROADBAND. If you would like to display a sticker, email me and I can arrange for you to come and collect one. If you're willing to put up more than one sticker, display a poster, or generally help raise awareness of the campaign, click here for more details on how you can help. |
